Couple renew vows commemorating time together
By DAISY MOON, DAILY SUN

THE VILLAGES — After five decades of love and devotion, Frank and Jeanette Hamby are ready for at least five more. On Saturday evening, the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony, in the company of fellow members of the KT Neighborhood Club — Kempton Place and Thistledown Way in The Village of Belvedere. Inside Pimlico Recreation Center, club members gathered in a room with gorgeous red and gold decor adorning each table, for a pre-ceremony meal. Soon the bride and groom disappeared momentarily from the head table and re-emerged in vibrant 1950s attire — Jeanette donned a brightly colored poodle skirt while Frank wore rolled-up jeans and a T-shirt. The two re-enacted a first date through a special skit, both joking about first kisses and a nighttime walk in the park. The comical scene ended with Frank presenting a diamond ring to his wife and asking her for her hand in marriage. Jumping up and down, Jeanette exclaimed excitedly, “Yes!” Once the skit ended, it was time for the moment everyone had been waiting for — the wedding ceremony. Soon, the procession began. Groomsmen dressed in black tuxedo T-shirts, black shorts and hats and knee-high black socks made their way down a white carpeted aisle, ending their trail next to a red rose and white light-laced arch. With the stirring tune of “We’ve Only Just Begun” filling the air, the bridesmaids entered, one at a time, each dressed in a different blouse of green, purple, pink and orange. An adult flower girl and ring bearer followed, catching the attention of audience members and even garnering several hearty laughs. Suddenly, the room grew silent, as the master of ceremonies asked everyone to rise. Absolutely breathtaking in a red gown and matching hat, the bride made her much anticipated appearance.
